NUtec Digital Ink supports the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals (SDG 2030) and has implemented the following programs to this end:

We are continually researching and testing alternative ink chemistries in our quest to reduce their impact on the environment. This has led to notable ink innovations and internationally recognised credentials such as our Greenguard Gold and Oeko-Tex Eco Passport certifications.

We have substantially reduced the amount of plastic been used in our bottle, cartridge and pouch packaging options.

We have embarked on solar installation projects for our factories, warehouses and administration offices which will help ease the pressure on our national electricity grid as well as reduce our reliance on non-renewable energy sources. South Africa’s climate is ideal for solar with most areas in the country averaging more than 2500 hours of sunshine per year, this being among the highest in the world.

Our Cleaning Division ensures that, wherever possible, eco-friendly cleaning materials and solutions, which are safer for the environment, are utilized.

The company successfully runs a waste management program with Enviroserv, one of the largest waste management companies in South Africa, enabling NUtec and its employees to successfully recycle or responsibly dispose of its waste. In doing so, NUtec is helping to reduce the volume of waste going directly to landfill. Colour coded areas aid employees in recycling and in identifying waste products for possible reuse or repurpose.

Nutec Digital Ink regularly runs educational and awareness programs for employees to learn more about responsible water and energy management. Water is a scarce and undervalued resource and we are passionate about reducing water losses incurred from leaks, faulty infrastructure and careless usage. We also employ Energy management tools aimed at reducing the losses incurred from unnecessary energy usage. The message is clear: saving water and saving energy will help save the environment!
